Travelers diarrhea

OK ... We could also talk about it and not mince words ... diarrhea ....

The trotting, Delhi belly, Montezuma's revenge, tourista ... call it what you, if you travel, you may have to endure to this day.

Country and city names aside, may have diarrhea anywhere. You can be the water ... even if it is dirty or contaminated. The water outside the home contains different minerals and bacteria than the water in your home ... and no matter where your home or when traveling. Americans traveling to Mexico may worry about Montezuma's revenge, but we talked to Mexican tourists who tourista in California!

There are countries where you should not drink the water. Hotels in these countries usually provide bottled water in your room. (Check before you just assume this as well .... if the water is safe and if the bottle is free.)

If in doubt, go ahead and drink bottled water ... better to be safe from disease. Beer, wine, bottled, boiled coffee and tea are also safe for consumption. (But whatever ice cubes.)

You can get the bowel problems of food and water. It all depends on what your body can handle.

To really be safe, the state of the passengers tried and true "is to eat food only if it is peeled or boiled or so .... I fear that a rule is broken more often than we should. We do if you eat at street stalls clean look ... but you never know what germs are lurking ....

And eat salads or even on a safari in the jungle or travel by road in India or Tibet. Sometimes it is a question of "what else can be done." For all the fun experiences that have to be in this adventure, we had all the battles that many of them with "revenge."

We had an old doctor tells us that one of the best ways to ease the digestive system in the local cuisine was to eat things that are acidic and yeast .... suggested beer and yogurt. Foreign yogurt has enzymes that can help ... and beer? I do not know how much help, but it's fun to try all the local beers, and always safe when the water is not.

The causes of diarrhea are as likely, the stress of travel, the fact that you are tired and jet lag, and your immune system is worn, so it can not be food or water.

If you have diarrhea, usually will run its course in the short term. Eat soft foods, and take it easy for a day. Drink plenty of water to replace lost fluids and prevent dehydration. You can take antidiarrheals to help reduce trots down and start to feel better as long as you do not have a fever or blood in the stool.

Gross as it sounds, I had a fit when we were walking in the Vietnamese city of Hoi An Our driver was not coming back for a couple of hours, so I told our guide every time I had to "make a script." She seemed to know people everywhere, and kindly allowed me in the back of the companies and several private homes that ... ahem ..., the use of facilities. I was not very happy at that time, but looking back, I had a ride like no other! What a story, eh?

To re-emphasize ... if the condition persists, if you're running a high fever or blood in the stool, you should consult a doctor and get antibiotics.

Do not worry about this. Try to be smart about what you eat and drink. Even then you may get "a stumbling block." Will soon be upon him ... and perhaps also have stories to tell.
