Sports Facilities in London

Here's a look at some of the places for sport in London, including a look at the 2012 Olympic venues and other popular spectator sports around the city of London.

Londoners have a voracious appetite for sports, particularly football. London has six teams playing in the Premier League teams and another ten in the lower divisions of professional football.
The most successful or at least the most popular teams are Chelsea, who won the English Premier League, and Arsenal.

The Arsenal museum near the current stadium speaks of munitions workers who had to take up a collection to buy leading football club in 1886. The timeline runs through 2002, when Arsenal won the FA Cup and Premier League, with all the history of the club sandwich in the middle.

Arsenal is in the process of building a new stadium in Ash Grove Burton, which cost about three quarters of a billion U.S. dollars. Chelsea complete renovation of its stadium capacity to 42,000 in 2001, with an estimated cost of two hundred million dollars. The new stadium will provide about 4,000 more seats than the old Arsenal stadium. The record attendance for an Arsenal game was in 1935 when 73,000 fans saw play Arsenal a 0-0 draw with Sunderland FC. The old stadium is a listed building for its Art Deco style.

Chelsea has been playing football for over a hundred years. His winning ways started after the 1955 season when they won the league for the first time. Chelsea has been popular since the beginning, but his fan base seems to grow bigger every year. Chelsea Stadium was renovated in 2001 at a cost of about two hundred million dollars. His home in Stamford Bridge was built in 1877. The origin of the name is a creek that flows near the stadium, called "Stamford Creek" and a bridge called "Little Chelsea Bridge." Over time, just be called "Stamford Bridge". The only part of the original state is supporting this. Too ambitious, renewals of the 1970 near bankruptcy of the team, and forced to liquidate the star players to stay afloat financially. The current "Stamford Bridge Stadium" has been completely updated in the last two decades. Houses two 4-star hotels, five restaurants, underground parking, fitness center, business center, shops, and a class museum that tells the story of Chelsea FC with interactive activities for fans in his 0:01 half acre.

Tickets for any of the Chelsea FC and Arsenal FC are quite expensive and some of the other eleven teams of professionals in London will make a game more affordable. Barnet, Brentford, Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace, Fulham, Leyton Orient, Milwall, Queens Park, Tottenham Hotspur, Watford and West Ham United are the professional football clubs in the London area. That makes it more professional teams than any other city in the world.

Even with football as the main course, London's voracious appetite for the sport still has room for other sports. The earliest written records of Cricket is played in London dating back to 1680, but is believed by many who have played in the city before that. The main sites for Cricket in London is The Oval, Kennington, and Lords Cricket Grounds. While most cricket clubs around London amateur players use is still very popular as a spectator sport.

Rugby was developed at Rugby School in Rugby Warwickshire in England. A plaque at the school commemorates the invention of William Webb Ellis Rugby, and his total disregard for the rules of football became the game of rugby, when he took the ball and ran with it.
Rugby is now played in over 100 countries worldwide. England has four national rugby teams currently competing in the World Cup, and other Championship events. Twickenham hosts the Rugby World Cup today.

With the exception of Wimbledon, tennis is not a great spectator sport. A lot of junior tennis is played in London and some world class youth tournaments are held there. Sport England is a table that encourages grassroots participation in sport. With the Olympics coming in 2012 the London branch has decided to give a boost to young to play serious tennis. Since Wimbledon is held in London that want to get more children interested in tennis and I hope some of representing London in the championship.

London has been officially named to host the 2012 Olympics. While it seems like a lot of time to prepare, in fact it is not. London already has many world-class venues to be used with little improvement. Other facilities to be built. The Olympic Village will be built in east London. Swimming, hockey, rowing, soccer, equestrian events and all special places are needed. The Olympic Village is being built at Olympic Park so that seventy-five percent of the athletes will compete at 20 minutes of their events.
The diversity of the city ensures that fans of all sports and all teams in the Olympics. The staff of the Olympic Games in 2012 will be around 3,000 plus an additional 70,000 volunteers at the time of starting the game. Put these games will be both a challenge and an honor, and serve as a testimony of love of the sport Londoners.
