Enjoy Spring Breaks In Dartmoor, Devon

Covering 368 square miles, Dartmoor National Park in Devon is one of 13 national parks in England and Wales. It is the largest area and wildest open country in southern England and attracts hundreds of hikers each year. With its rugged terrain, rivers, forests and historic old stone age bronze, RSP there is much to discover on Dartmoor.

Unlike the vast landscape, Dartmoor is home to several picturesque town teeming with independent shops, restaurants and cafes. The national park is also a variety of accommodation options from small guest houses and campsites hidden in hotel farm nestled in the hills of Dartmoor.

Tavistock

Tavistock is a town on the River Tavy. The city is rich in history, seen in the magnificent stone architecture, which was also the birthplace of Sir Francis Drake. The city has a number of independent shops and cafes located along the picturesque river.

Farmers Weekly markets are held in Tavistock and the city is also famous for hosting the annual goose fair and in the 12th century.

Come out Moor

Widecombe in the Moor is a small village on Dartmoor, located in the beautiful valley of the River East Webburn. The village is famous for its annual fair held in September, which gave rise to the famous folk song "Widecombe Fair."

The village church has recently undergone some much needed renovations and is known as "Cathedral Moro" the church, because it is so big and magnificent, a small village.

Dartmoor Activities

Dartmoor beautiful landscape can be explored on foot, riding a bike. There are different ways you can take in Dartmoor, if you want to go alone or take a guided tour with one of the companies for many hikes as Dartmoor Nature Tours.

The two Moors Walk is a long tour that takes you from Ivybridge, the southern tip of Dartmoor to Lynmouth on the north coast of Exmoor, which extends 102 miles, run a great week.

Other activities that can be experienced Dartmoor include canoeing, clay pigeon shooting, letterbox, fishing, horse riding and much more.

Dartmoor Attractions

Dartmoor resident in a number of attractions, historical and natural attractions. Becky Falls has been voted Top Beauty Spot in Devon in 2007 and is located in the countryside of Dartmoor, near Bovey Tracey. See waterfalls, 60 acres of ancient forests owned river walks, nature trails, tea room, gift shop and restaurant.

Castle Drogo is a National Trust property and was the last castle built in England. Situated above the Teign Gorge, Castle Drogo experience spectacular views of Dartmoor.

Family attractions are near Dartmoor include Pennywell Farm offers something for all the family, the Museum of Dartmoor Prison at Princetown and The Woodlands Leisure Park near Dartmouth. Otherwise, the south coast of Devon is just a short drive away and offers safe sandy beaches.
